Perry has the father of actors Laurie Metcalf, and Jeff Perry. The role of Jackie Harris was played by her mother in both the two episodes she appeared on Roseanne. Perry appeared in 9 episodes of ABC's thriller The Family during 2016. Her father portrayed her in her role on the ABC Drama Scandal. In the same year, the actress was selected to play the younger version of Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) on Young Sheldon, a spin-off of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory again playing a young model of the mother's character. She was cast in the role by auditioning for an open role despite being connected to this persona.
